Bio-denitrator

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Never heard of an Azoo Bio-Denitrator but a simple coil denitrator is a long run of hose that relies on aerobic bacteria in the hose to consume all oxygen and then it exits into a core filled with bio-media on which anerobic bacteria can thrive since it should now be an extremly low oxygen, dark enviorment.

There are also other spins on the design but a coil is the simplest to DIY and there are recirculating versions and whatnot. There are alcohol fed units, sulphur fed units, deniball units and everything else. Bio-denitration is not exactly as simple as ordinary nitrification.

Also, these units have an extremly low flow, like a few drips a second or minute. something like a aqualifter may be better suited. Like I said, I've never seen anything other than $300+ dollar sulphur or alcohol fed recirculating units or simpler DIY coil units. I would be willing to bet that is a coil unit (I haven't read about it yet).

I want one maybe that would do the trick. Keep the flow as slow as possible they work better the slower you run water through it.

If your willing to come to uxbridge this weekend, i think the shop still has 1 more left for £10, pm me
I mayb buy it and stick it on ebay :nilly: didnt realise they were worth anything

You don't want the flow too slow or else you'll produce sulfuric acid that will lower PH and create an unpleasant farty smell. You also don't want it to go too fast either or it won't do it's job.

had a look around, even though azoos website is down, google has it cached

"You can use the Power head and canister fitler to connet with the denitrator, then water flow from the filter will get into the denitrator. The We suggest to use the 180L~600L power head to connect with the denitrator.

Please use the knob above the valve to control the rate of the water flow.

It is no need to use the extra inlet/outlet on the connection between the canisters. "

So that doesnt help... but another site said 20 - 50Lph

Using the flow adjusters and the pipes included, im going to take a pipe from the uv to this and hopefuly both will work off 1 powerhead with the rght flows
