bio filter cleaning question

what is the best method you would recommend for monthly cleaning of filter/ bio bag? i dont want to lose the bacteria.

After you get done with your water change that week, just swish it around in the old tank water. That's about the safest you can be, I think.

yup agitate it in some of the cleaner tank water.

I think the absolute best way to clean bio media is to use thorough mechanical filtration prior to the bio media...

Then a simple lil swoosh around in 'old tank water' should be plenty...
