would scrubbies do any good in a ac110 or should i just stuff it w/ biomax?

scrubbies will always work for biomedia. if u got the scrubbies stuff it.

in both of mine i have removed the basket.. done a layer of scrubbies across the bottom with the block of sponge on top.. i used some other sponge to fill the area around the intake tube... been running like this for months.. water is always super clear and its really easy to clean..

biomax is going to provide much more surface area than scrubbies will.

people keep saying that... however after you spend $100 on lil tubes and a month later is is glazed over with a solid later of BB and water flows around it.. ill show you my $5 worth of scrubbies that are covered with BB and still have water flowing through them and smile..

Even if water is flowing around the biomax and not through it, isn't water still coming in contact with the bb?

thanks guys. i think what i'll do a combo ( biomax and scrubbies) on top of the stock foam block and see how that works for now.

the bio max is rated on total surface area.. which means all the lil pores and nooks and whatever else you want to call it... and dry... no doubt its got an amazingly huge amount of surface area for something so small.... but ive had it in my tanks and it gets a layer of BB that coats the whole thing.. water is going to behave like water which means it will flow wherever is the easyest..

ok im not paying attention anymore... IMO scrubbies are just about the best you can get.. biomax is nice but not worth the money.. $15 gets you two handfuls of biomax.. $15 gets you like 5 gallons of scrubbies...
