What is a good bio media to put in rena xp3's?Would bio balls do the job or would something else be better? I got three of them for my 125 gallon mbuna tank i'm doing. Thanks for any info!
I use a combination of any of the following Eheim's ehfisubstrat, Hagan's Biomax, Azoo's Bioglass and Seachem' Matrix. Just shop around and find the best value, I don't believe any are more superior then the others.
Scrubbies! I've got two stuffed with 'em. And the filter pads that you buy in the big roll and cut to size. And there might be some bio-stars in there too. Just throw in what you can find, what's cheap, what you have lying around... That's the reason canister filters are so great.

I am in general agreement with my esteemed colleague, above. You can make solid technical arguments based upon theoretical considerations for certain media being superior...but at the end of the day, if you put enough in your filter, all will probably do the job.
