Whats the lifetime of ehfisubstrat, biorings, biomax etc? I have mines for only 4 years and heard they tend to clog up and become useless after a while(I rinse mines once a month with tank water).

Whats the most effective/cheapest bio media replacement that will last long? I also have a sand filter and wet-dry running which dont need replacement but my I need something for my canister. Thanks

Pot Scrubbies are the most affordable and since they are plastic you can rinse a few evey water change and they should last indefinatly because they won't break down. If they get gunk on them, just clean them off.

any time somthing says LIFE time i always ask WHOS lifetime my life time the companies life time or a 90 year olds lifetime .....?
i dig pot scrubbers i would rather know about surface area than some 90 year old waiting to die

Most people here prefer some pot scrubbers, but I just use pots and pans. LOL

Never succumb to peer pressure. That led to me wearing Zubaz in the 80's. LOL

Pot scrubbers are great.

yeah, but can pot scrubbers compare to the surface area of ceramic rings, ehfisubstrat, etc? Ithought they are only effective in wet-dry systems and not canister ?

I use efhisubstrat in my SW, I can't imagine many things have the surface area of that, but it's expensive.

I've only used scrubbies in canisters for a couple of years. So far so good. But, not long enough to judge durability. A couple of my W/Ds have the same scrubbies that were placed in them over a dozen years ago. Aside from a slight color fade, they're still doing their job.

This may help.
