Ok i have a fx5 and i have the following media to fill them with witch one would be best scrubbies vs bio balls vs prefilter. Thanks

Probably the scrubbies, they would have twice as much surface area as the bioballs. Plus you can compact the scrubbies a bit to lessen bypass.

When you talk of prefilter I am assuming you mean the fluval prefilter rings?

So you guys say go with the fluval prefilters? I really dont want to go and spend more cash just want to use what i have

Scrubbies and Bio Baslls work best as wet dry media, because they allow air to circulate inside of them...

Ceramic noodles offer the highest surface aera thus are ideal for submerged applications...

Offering thorough mechanical filtration to the water prior to passing it through bio media allows the bio media to be at peak efficiency.

Thats what i did i have the following 3 items at my house to choose from scrubbies fluval prefilters and bio balls. Just thinking of witch one to choose from

The fluval prefilter is designed so it limits bacteria growth, it is very smooth and intend to capture large debries. You best bet is to thightly pack as many scubbies into the FX5 as you can. Unless you are willing to buy proper media for a canister filter.
