i have a sump and i have NO bio media. i need some though because i have a HUGE bio load!

i came up with these two things in my house. (plastic plants, and Tons Of Straws)... SO, i took these and put them in my sump. the plants look like they have a good amount of surface area on them and i know that all those straws work. i filled the entire chamber with this. ( i really think this will work because the plants look like the have a lot of surface area and i have thousands of pieces of straw in the chamber. here is the pic of the plastic plant i am using.

ha ha! i just realized this is a pretty stupid question... o well:nilly:
thanks!

Go to the dollar store and get a couple bags of plastic pot scrubbies. Found some today for 50 cents a bag.

anything that is in the tank will have BB growing on it.. use whatever you want.. only differance is some things have a lot more surface area than other things...

exactly ~ ya need surface area/porous stuff.Even foam works.

Just make sure there is current in the tank and forget about the external bio media :)
