Bio wheel/ filter cartridge

I was wondering out of curiosity if I could replace both filter cartridges at once since I have media in the filter and on the bio wheels of my aquarium. The filters are now too clogged to filter water even after rinsing them. Usually I replace one and then replace the other a week later.

If you have emperors, then you should look at improving your mechanical stage. When I had it, I would use a foam as the first stage and use biological filtration for the next stages. I have to rinse or replace the foam, but the other slots I just rinse in tank water.

Don't buy the cartridge with carbon; waste of money IMO.
