new to this looking to setup a 4ft tank so not too big wood a bio wheel filter be suitable as the only filter for my tank or do u reccomend getting something else on in conjunction?

edit to original
tank is 4ft x 2 ft x 2ft a friend sold to me in australia bout 202 litres in the tank when full. he only used a bio-wheel filter in the tank is this suitable for this size tank

Most important part is what`s in the tank.
A couple of guppies or a mob of africans.

That is about 120 gals. What filter is it exactly. Emperors have bio wheels but i think the biggest is only rated for 70 gals.

I prefer the aqua clear filters...a little more $ but a better filter IMO. You could do 2 110's and be slick i think. ONe might work but I like 2 on that tank. Or canister filters...you might be able to get a fluval FX5 for a little more than the AC110's. You can look at ebay for both...I think the ac110's can be had (here at least) for about 75ea shipped. The FX5 about 200 or so. With either of those filters I like to add a air stone of some sort to help brake the water surface and add a little current to the tank.

Must just be me..
Can`t figure a bunch of filter recommendations without a clue as to what is in the tank.
Based on what, turn over rates?
What rates are you basing this on?
The “written in stone” 10X rate handed to moses by who is, is?

I agree stock would be helpful, but I also think NOLA is well on the safe side by recommending dual AC110's or an FX5, or some combination of... You would have to massively overstock that 120 to go wrong with either choice above. All good points, though. I believe stock is the most important factor with all tank questions.

I generalized...I picked filters that would not only filter the water with pretty much anything he puts...but also give me the flow I would like in the tank. I wouldnt change my filter recommendation much based on his stocking unless it was a extreme one way or another.
