bioball beneficial bacteria life

i am planning to do a wet dry on my 240 , a question can to my mind, i was wondering when am doing water changes and pump turn off and water stop going into the sump an over the boiballs, how long do i have until the bacteria dies off the bioballs?..

I have no scientific data to back up my claim but i have heard on various threads that they xan go about 2 hours before they begin to die off. If your nervous simply scoop water from aqaurium into sump. That should give the bacteria some food to survive
 
I often wondered that too. Considered running a spare pump in the sump to pump water into top of drip tray to keep it wet while main pump is off.
 
Like what was said before, bio dries, BB dies. I use a little and very quiet recirculation pump for my bio tower. It keeps the media wet during water changes. I just keep it running all the time so I don't forget to turn it on during a WC...
