does it really matter? trying to decide between the bioballs from F&S which is app. 1" in diameter and bigal's at 1.5". the price difference is about 20 bucks for the 1200 count box, with big als being cheaper. thanks!!!

also, i have a sump that i don't want to do wet/dry since my overflow box has that covered in spades. so it'll just be a 20 gallon long with a pump on the right side and the water from the tank dropping in the left with a few dividers in between. would just dropping in some matrix that will go to the bottom of the tank be effective, or do you think need more water movement for BB growth? :) thanks for your opinion. i plan on overstocking a bit and overfeeding :D...so biomedia would be crucial for me
