hi guys, i got a question in mind. should biohome filter media be placed submerge in the water? or show iwater jus drip onto the biohome?

anyway for a 4ft tank, how much filter media is needed.. coz i got 1 crazist idea in mind, i plan to use a 3ft sump tank for my 4ft tank. or should i jus use a canister or overhead filter?

either way will work, but keep in mind that if the water ever stops moving and lets the media dry out, the bacteria responsible for cycling will die. So submerging them while leaving the top of the media open to the air would work better.

Assuming your tank is not heavily overstocked, a sponge roughly the size of your fist will do.

We would never know how much filter media is needed for your tank... there are so many factors to consider (i.e no. of fish, type of fish etc...) you should do your own water testing to see whether you have enough BB in media or not to cope with the bio load. A 3 feet tank as a sump is just nice for your 4 feet tank, also make sure you get a pump that has adequate flowrate.
