I'm thinking about adding a school of tetra of some kind to my tank. It's got severums, geos, that sort of thing. But how much of a bioload bump are small fish like that? For example, am I looking at an appreciable difference if I put in a dozen serpae tetras, or bleeding hearts, or whatever...vs. 2 dozen?

in terms of bioload, 1 severum = 5.2 tetras

I totally just made that up, but feel free to use it.

adding a school of tetras is probably approximately comparable to adding another adult cichlid.

That was kind of what I was thinking, more or less. I just wondered if anyone had looked at it in depth at all. I only ever had one tank with tetras and that was years ago, I hadn't really thought about it until I decided to have a community tank.
