Are the Eheim classic canister filters good at biological filtration? I know the FX5s are good for mechanical and I am looking for a canister that is good for bio. Thanks for any help!!

This question depends on your livestock.

The Fx5 may cycle slower than some but it can handle bio loads justs fine.

Howdy,

It all depends on your media and the model of the Eheim Classic. A 2260 outperforms the FX5 when you fill it with biomedia. The 2262 matches the FX5 regarding turnover (i.e. mech if you fill it right) and outperforms it in bio (if you fill it right). The FX5 outperforms smaller Classics.
