Hello. Just bought a new house and am using the fact that the wife wants a finished basement bar as an excuse to upgrade my 150 saltwater gallon to a 900 gallon tank. Because, well, ALL real bars have huge fish tanks right? :-)

Anyway, was thinking that a swimming pool cartridge filters and 86GPM pump with be great for mechanical filtration.

On the biological side I was thinking of having a pair of 6" x 72" clear PVC pipes arranged in a "U" configuration with bio balls in one side and a 5" diameter cylinder of foam rubber in the other. I have a diagram here http://www.vinny.org/900gallonfilter.jpg if it helps. Any thoughts or comments?

Swimming pool cartridge filters will clog up far to fast if you are using them as your main mechanical. Bioballs are best suited for wet/dry applications. What are you planning on stocking?
