Bioluminescence Dinoflagetlates - Reef Tank

Hello,

I have a 55 gallon reef tank without a refugium that I recently started and have been doing research on the likelihood of successfully propagating marine phytoplankton that emit light in it. Has any one here tried to do this? Or heard of someone who has?

I believe they can be toxic to some organisms, but far as I know I've never seen it done yet.
Personally I think a pump/wavemaker only tank would be beneficial here (no strainers!)
