biomax usage

how long do you typically use your biomax for in your aquaclear.... box says 2-3 months but i've seen randomly in articles it being used for longer.... is it bad to use the same bag of biomax for 6+ months?

I just rinse it in tank water during a WC and put it right back in. They want you to keep buying it but its not necessary.

ive had the same ceramic bio rings for several years now, including the ones that come with the aquaclear filters. they may be mighty tan/brown now, but im guessing they still work fine since none of my tanks have any spikes.

I am using the same bio max in my Fluval 304 when i started it over 10 years ago.

Until they crumble apart (your filter will die first). The thing to remember though is to periodically take some out (make sure not to take all of it, a 1/4 should be fine) and boil it. This keeps the pores open and keeps it in tip top shape.
