Ok so i was bored and decided to read some of the 'suggestions' about fluval media they provide in the box...

they suggest i (we) replace the biomax every six months....really. Anyone even do that every year or so? do they just want more of my money?
Mine doesn't seem like it is even remotely losing consistency.

Well of coarse they are going to suggest doing something that makes them more money.

Mine's been running for over a year and I haven't noticed a difference in mine yet

You don't need to replace biological filtration media bud'. There are people who've been using the same media for 10, 15 plus years. No issues.
