i have never heard of any fully bipedal lizards before (other than dinosaurs). are there any?

and i don't want to see a single post about basilisks, ok?

There arent any bipedal lizards, sometimes monitors stand on their hind legs to fight or to tripod for food or danger, so I guess this thread is over since there arent any to discuss about :) it would be really cool if there were any. And I didnt bring up basiliks at all imagine that, and theyre as close to bipedal as youll get.

Not all the time though. Collared lizards only do so when escaping predators, as do basilisks, frilled dragons and a few others.

basilisks run on their hind legs when they do the whole "Jesus Christ" thing, if I'm not mistaken.

There are no true bipedal lizards as ophi stated its a survival tactic more than anything.

Pretty sure it's commonly accepted that bipedal dinosaurs were more closely related to birds than reptiles.

You are correct, dinosaurs are not true reptiles, let alone lizards...They belong in the Archosaur ("Ruling reptiles/lizards") group along with crocodilians and birds. A biped needs to have legs straight under it's body, unlike a lizards, which project out to the side.

Yes Jason, but is Godzilla a lizard or a crocodilian? :)
