Hi everyone recently i found some very nice pieces of driftwood at my cottage. Im sure one peice is birch the other im about 90% sure is birch (the first i knwo is birch as it still had a bit of birch bark on one end (i cut off the "bad end") the other i think is birch because it very closely resembles the look of the other piece )

im wondering is birch wood safe for aquariums? birch is pretey much the only wood up at my cottage other than pine/cedar so if birch is toxic it looks like im stuck with buying driftwood at the fish store. I searched the forums but couldnt find a definitive answer as to wether it is safe or not

so, is it safe or not ?

Bump

i really dont liek bumping so much buti need to know wether its ok to use birch wood in a tank

I know birch contains alot of chemicals. Its commonly used to get fires going in survival situations. Whether or not its safe for fish, I have no idea. my guess would be that its not safe. But try it out on a few guppys or something before using it with the fish you care about.

Just my 2 cents.
