Birchirs and turtles ??

I have two 4" musk turtles that I don't no what todo with dont want to give the little guys away but no they can't spend winter outside ( currently living in a pond) I was thinking of adding them to my tank. The only problem I can see is my 10" endli he's a bit of retard hes had swim bladder issues for years so can't swim great but does Jsut fine. Don't think he is going to grow much more as I've had him probably 5+ years and he's never really grown much after he hit 8". Would he try and eat the musks he's pretty well fed and never bothers any fish. All feedback appreciated.

No, never, not going to happen. Turtles eat fish. And since bichir's tend to just lay around, they are easy targets for the turtles.

Why not buy another tank? Musk turtles do not require a very large aquarium, a 23 gallon long would work great.

Ive got a tank they could go in a 30g long but my house is running out of room. It was worth a shot mite have to out my geckos to make space for there tank

What type of musks? I kept an outdoor colony for 10+yrs. Then again I'm in Texas.

turtles and bichirs as tankmates make terrible combos in general Most of the aquatic species are fish eaters. I heard that some kind of musk turtle can be kept with large top swimming fish and such. As for bichirs, they super normally super slow so will pose easy targets for turtle. I wanted to put fly river turtle with bichirs but I changed my mind after some research. Even if the fish is big, it can still get nipped fins.


if you temporary put the turtles with the bichir over the winter, it would be reasonably ok. I don't think the turtle looks tasty to the bichir. There could be some nips on the bichir.
