Do birchirs get on well with turtles?

Everything suggests it could work - I have a 4'' senegal and a 4'' delhezi.
Turtles would be 2 x red ear sliders.

Tank would be 48x18x18, with the water level at 12'' with some floating docks.

Filtration at current is 2 AC110s, but due to the lower water level they would need to be changed to prevent the splashing so would have to go with a canister (any recommendations? dont want too OTT)

A heat lamp is the only problem. All the lids need to be covering everything to prevent the birchirs jumping, but is it safe to have a heat lamp in the corner of the tank but beneath the glass covers?

And birchirs climbing up on the floating docks wouldnt be a problem?

thanks guys

I've kept my bichirs with certain turtle species, like snakenecks and African muds...but red ears will likely eat 'em.

^Agreed^ ASN are vegies-to my knowledge- Also I have a RES and He EATS EVERYTHING, when he was younger he killed 25 goldfish, didn't eat them just went Freddie Crueger on them....Turtles+Bichir= Fat Turtle

hello,

definitely no. it is a problem of growing and behaviour. all water turtles tend to bite in everything that is moving or looking like food. it was said that some water turtles are herbivorous - but all babies and juveniles are carnivourous and will get in later phases of their life to be vegetarians - i speak about chrysemys, pseudemys and so on.
the problem will not be the constant killing of the bichirs by the turtles - it is especiaoly the enourmous stress of constant hunting. this will be also a popular letal factor to bichirs. this can be also watched in - for my opinion and experience in my early bichir beginnings - communities with cichlids of uncomfortable size. some members here had got other experiences but i think safe ways will be the best - so dont do it.

greetings
