well that would depend totally on what kind of bichir you bought, it will get between 12" and 30" inches so as you can see, theres a big range of size depending on species, you really need to find out what kind it is, but assuming you bought the smallest species (which I highly doubt you did) anywhere from a 55 gallon to 180-300 gallon

looking at your signature bentank neither of your tanks are suitable and if you were to put one in your current tanks you would eventually end up with only the bichir in there.

Any bichir should only be kept in a 10g as a grow out tank whilst it's under about 6", once it's bigger filter for that size tank won't be able to handy the waste of 1 without making white water rapids in the tank.

Nano is a term used for marine reef tanks under 20gallons.

i keep my p.senegalus in a 29 gallon by the way bichirs are not invertebrates

The bichir will get up to 24 in. and will need a 50 gal at least when full grown.
thats assuming he has an ornate or something, which i suppose is possible since he said its a pretty bichir.

but i agree with you on the tank size. even a senegalus should really be in at least a 40gal when full grown, and for ornate it'll need to be bigger.

so bentank, we need to know what kind of bichir you have to give you more accurate info. got pics?

post a pic or tell what color it is or name of it would help?
