A teenager has been hauled into court after confessing to setting a budgerigar on fire with a home-made flame thrower.

The bird an eight-year-old girl's pet was treated for singed feathers and skin damage but will make a full recovery.
Incredibly, the boy told cops he "did it for a laugh".
