birds and alcohol

last night my older cousins were over and one of them thought it would be a good idea to offer my quaker a taste of his adult beverage. needless to say he didnt like it and spit it out, a best as an animal with a beak could spit, however im pretty sure there was still some in his mouth because he was licking the inside of his beak. the drink was mango lemonade with vodka, how much vodka i dont know. i do know that alcohol is extremely bad for birds though, should i be worried? (and i put the bird away after my cousin did it)

I hope you took the car keys away from the bird after he started drinking.

i would watch him closely today, if he starts acting weird..get him to a vet.

i dont know if this matters but i dont think he actually drank any of it, more like he stuck the tip of his beak in it out of curiosity, he was acting completly normal the rest of the night though (this happened around 7pm and i kept an eye on him until i went to bed at 10pm) if the alcohol does end up causing problems how long should it take for it to take effect? im sweating bullets right now

i really think your bird will be absolutely fine.. as long as he is acting normal now and is eating and drinking .. just norm.. he should be fine... don't want you to worry .. i believe it would have shown some effects if it had injested much... or anything.. just educate before you bring the little guy out to socialize..
