In my 130 gallon my 7" Royal Green Terror is wreaking havoc on my 8" Gold Severum and 8" Green Severum. Would I be better off if I got rid of the two Sevs and put in a 5" male Jack Dempsey? Or would the JD beat on my RGT?

Can't/won't know till you try...
Your RGT may just be a psychotic maniac and thrash the JD too.

If you like the RGT & Sev combo, I'd try removing the fish, a complete decor rearrange with the goal of adding cover for the Sevs, breaking the lines of sight and distinct territories. After which I'd add the Sev's first for 24hrs, then turn off the lights and reintroduce the RGT, keep the lights off for a additional 24hrs to reduce stress/aggression...
Cross your fingers, squint one eye and hold your mouth just right and you may get lucky with this :D (JoKiNg)

I have already tried that technique and within a couple days the RGT was wreaking havoc. The most important thing to me is if I did exchange the Sevs with the JD I do not want the RGT to go from top of the food chain to the bottom. He is a very beautiful fish and I don't want to ruin that with shredded finnage.

In that case may I suggest keeping'im as the sole display fish.
Maybe setup a 55-75gal biotope with some dithers/targets.
The 130gal could be put to other uses.

Introducing any cichlid or otherwise aggressive fish is a crapshhoot.

Ha aha aha my 7" RGT is insane as well. He pretty much runs the tank and reminds everyone all the time. The rearrange thing didn't work for me. I have another 7" goldsaum in there and that takes the RGT attention off the other fish a bit. The problem with adding a JD is that the RGT will not back down which is respectable but you know how that can end.

well the fact of the matter is that you shouldnt have severums in with the gt..that isnt a good combo..put a nice jag in there to set him straight..

BostonPatriot: yeah they just get insane out of no where lol. and yeah i can definitely tell he wouldn't back down to a JD, but hopefully the JD would back down sooner or later. of course then would probably just be another game of chase and fin nip all the time huh?

Dovii88: doesnt that depend on each fish? most of the jags i remember hearing about on this site don't have much of a backbone...

I would get a smaller tank for the sevrems the gt will kill them at some point and add a couple of the cichlids mentioned above.A jag the same size as the gt will be able to hang with him he just won't be the boss or maybe he will keep a divider handy.lol

I got my GT at about 1 1/2" he/she is not at about 2 1/2 AND I'm hoping it doesn't go bonkers one day. I'm hoping since I got it so small it will be cool when it gets bigger. Who knows though.

Boston is right green terrors dont back down...there stronger than jds i think...a jag could set himi straight but i dought it....Green terrors are just crazy...best thing to do is put ur hand in htere corner him and flick water @ him it will stress him but let him know whos the boss...it sounds stupid i did it to mine just watched him for 2 hours he wont attack my other gt, oscar, convicts or my balas. So try that out.
