My juvie black Arowana gobbled a chunk of krill that was too big to swallow and is wandering about with it stuffed in his mouth. Hasn't made any progress for a while.

Net him and pluck out the krill? Or figure that if the species has survived for so long that they can handle it?

Not sure if intervention would help or hurt.

Well, problem solved for the moment. An Uaru came along and "helpfully" seized it out of his piehole.

For the future though, it would still be handy to know. I don't want to either unnecessarily stress the fish or leave him to choke.

I personally don't worry the Aro shouldn't have any problem swallowing it.

I have been breaking his food into pieces but it's something of an art. Too big and he can't eat it. Too small and the Uarus eat it before he can. There's a sweet spot where he can swallow it but they can't.

The Uarus have made a game of waiting until Brutus is ready to strike a choice tidbit and zipping in to steal it away at the last possible moment. He turns aside in frustration as the thief rockets away with the prize. If they had hands you could bet the Uarus would be clapping each other on the back.

I feed them first but it doesn't matter. They do it for fun. I try to discourage the behavior by making the food pieces larger and more intimidating... apparently too large in this case.

Haha,I know just what you mean as for as making sure all fish in a tank get their share of the food being almost an art.
