We recently bought a 10" Gold Severum on a trip to nashville. a few days after introducing the fish, someone bit a hole in his side. it stayed small and red for a few days but after i added salt, raised the temp and started melafixing is got 4x bigger and deeper. any suggestions for further treatment?

Antibiotics like maracyn and maracyn2 at the same time. This would kill any bacteria that are in the wound and allow it to heal. As well as the salt to help with stress and more slime production to help heal the wound. i am guessing that is why the wound has gotten bigger, because it is now infected. --------------pics would also help with a guess on the right treatment.

PICS. sorry for the fuzzy pics but the tank is still cloudy bc of the melafix

Either mercurochrome topical treatment or combination of two Maracyns.

i'll try the two maracyns. they are more availible than the other

TRY A SMALL SPEC OF PENICILLIN IN A FEEDER FISH....SMALL PIECE THE SIZE OF A PIECE OF PEPPER. OFFER EVERY OTHER DAY UNTIL WOUND IS HEALD

like Lupin said-use the Maracyns now-its looking to be a secondary infection now--let us know what happens! its a beautiful sev..
