I just got through setting up my 125 Uaru tank and am loving it.:headbang2
It has been a while since I have had monsters and now cant believe I ever quit keeping them.
Now I am ready for another tank. My options are.....
I have a 75 gal planted(48X18) move my plants and small fish to a 30 long
94 gal Turtle tank(60X18) build and move them to a small pond
I want a semi aggressive setup but want to be able to have more than just one pet.
What I am interested in is
Gold Saum
Jack Dempsey
Salvini
maybe some Geos
others??
Any suggestions/ideas? Which tank would you use?

There will eventually be a 125 empty once I get my Uaru a larger tank so these will all be moved within maybe a year or two.

use the 75g and maybe a gold saum pair?

Ha ha Uaru aren't monsters!

I think JD, GT and Salvini could work, but probably not in the 75. Geo's would probably not work well, since they aren't as aggressive. Even 2 of them may not work for life. A GT pair would be nice, but a breeding pair of Salvini would be even nicer, I think.

Yeah Yeah I know but they are the closest thing I have right now other than a few Mbuna.:grinno:
But I did learn about them on MFK so I guess they are some gentle monsters:D

Ok here is what I have decided
Plants go to my 30 long
Mbuna and maybe some Tropheus to my 75
and use my 94 for my semi aggro CA/SA tank.

So give me some ideas for this tank......footprint 60X18

Personally, if I wanted to setup a semi aggressive tank that size with 'monster' fish, I'd do a Central American setup with Archocentrus sajica and Herotilapia multispinosa, with perhaps an Archocentrus sp. 'Honduras Red Point' mixed in.

Hardly monster, but I'm not a huge fan of the big boys unless you're talking tanks over 125 or 140+ like Vieja and Paratheraps.

I like japes' suggestion, firemouths could be an option in that setup also. If you want to go a bit bigger you could center something around a jack dempsey or green terror but then having multiple cichlids of that size can be dicey. Or if you decide to really go monster glassbanger you could do any of the parachromis sp. (except dovii) or one of the amphilophus like a RD, midas, or trimac (I'd do a trimac myself). But if you do that you're looking at a specimen tank more than likely.
