Bitterling - Neon Dwarf Rainbow Fish?

I recently got 3 Neon Dwarf Rainbow Fish, and was wondering - are they related to Bitterling in any way? NDRF have a similar body shape (small head, thin and circular body), and colours.
Are NDRF a species of Bitterling?

the NDR is a lovely fish dont you agree? Not a lover of the rainbow shape but these little guys give off a lovely blue in certain light that I couldnt ignore.
