more like a dumb question...but i've noticed that RTC and TSN are very popular and beautiful monsters here...but when you order catfish at a restaurant...what kind of cats do they catch and use in the culinary circles?

just curious...::shrug::...

probably a channel, its definitely not those you mentioned or probably warm water fish in general

channel or blue (mainly common catfish because te price is cheaper)

Usually farm raised Channel cats but some Asian restaraunts use farm raised sawai or swai catfish imported from S.E. Asia, a pangasius species related to 'paroon sharks'...

I know there's lots of catfish hybridization being done but haven't heard of a blue/flathead cross before, anyone have pic's??

wow...nothing like learning something new every day!!! I honestly did not expect so many replies so quickly!!! thanks guys

Interesting guys,i didnt know that.

Steve

rtc x tsn was originally created as a food source because the meat of the rtc is considered unedible by most south americans because of the color, the tsn is crossed with it to make the meat white and the hybrid offspring tend to have whats called hybrid vigor which makes them grow larger and faster than either of the true blood parents.
