Arrrrrrrrrrgh! I just came home from work today and I found my 10"BKG is floating around...........DEAD!!! Wtf?! How can it be?!? What went wrong? He was peaceful either before, eating everything I gave him, why why why!??! Could it be something to do with my canister? I just bought a new canister today, installed it and stuff, he seemed to be doing fine then, why did he die? My 5" tandanus catfish is dead too, but I love my BKG more! That was my favourite fish! His 3 other surviing tankmates: an oscar, a common pleco and a gibbi seem to be doing fine.

Here is what I did today with the tank: got home proudly wiht my new canister, washed all the elements etc, and installed it. It's 1500L/hr in a 2'x1x1.5', and I did about 50% water change because the water before was just TOO dirty, and then I let the filter run and do its thing! Now, 12 hrs later, my BKG is dead! Could he be stressed from the sudden 500L/h pump change to 1500L/h? I didn't have a good hiding spot for him, he was just always other some dfrit wood. Argh whhhhhhy? I was hoping he will reach at least 14 inchs!

My hope now lies in my other 8" BKG, pray to god that he grows big and amke me proud. sigh.

check the perams. if it was in the tanks listed in your sig im not suprised. its way over stocked.

Oh no, I recently separate the fish in that tank into 2 2' tanks, so there was a tank with just the 2 plecos, the tandanus, the oscar and the BKG, and another with the gouramis and the rest.

The problem with little tanks is that little differences can become big ones. My guess is that there was possibly some chemical left in the cannister that messed up the water or something wrong with the water you used for the water change...

Just my 2c ... sorry for your loss. :(

if it wasn't something with the params, then it might have been too large a volumn of water change. did u keep your old filter running? if not, you also could have ditched alot of your already established bio...

I think you're right rhinod56, stupid me didn't leave the old filter running for a few more days AND a too large volume change. Argggggggh!:nilly:
