Hello. I got my bkg about 3 days ago and I can not get he or she to eat. So far ive tried dried bloodworms live bloodworms, and sinking pellets. Ive tried to feed him both in the day and nigh time because thats is when I feed all of the other fish. the water conditions as well as the temp are all at the normal level and he is only in the tank with an pleco and a dwarf groumi and they dont bother him. Ive place some of the food in his favorite hiding places and when I check in the morning its still all there. He is perfectly fine he moves around and even wanders durring the day. I checked him out and he doesent look to have any thing wrong with him. He is currently in a 20g he has plenty of room to move about because he or she isnt that big I wanna try to get it to eat and grow it a little bit before he goes into a bigger tank. Any suggestions on what I can do to get him atleast eating. Thank you

I'm new with BKG's also, though when I got mine it wouldn't eat for a few days.. The only way I could get mine to eat originally was to hand feed him (he wasn't afraid of my hand being next to him).
Did you ask what he/she use to be fed before you got it? Mine would also only eat this frozen shrimp cube that the shop was feeding him. Now he eats anything that he can get his mouth on. Mine, like most BGK's (from what I've heard) won't eat anything that floats.
Its a good idea to put the food in his hiding place though, that's what I started to do so it wouldn't float away/so I didn't have to sit there the entire time hand-feeding him.

My main suggestion would be to figure out what it was previously eating, and try to feed him/her that.

I think to find out what he was eating before he was shipped to me would be a bit of a project. I brought him home the same day he came in. I tried hand feeding but he wouldnt take and i had it sitting infront of him. I was thinking about trying either something frozen or the cubes like you mentioned. thank you for your help

woot. he finally started eating the live blood worms today im so happy =). Thank you for the advice you gave after a few days have past maybe a llittle longer ima go ahead and switch to the cubes or just plain frozen shrimp then sinking pelets. about the time he starts to realize the feeding times ill put him in the bigger tank.

good to hear! I haven't tried to feed mine live blood worms yet.. maybe I'll pick some up this weekend
