My silver is around 5.5 inches and they have a black aro at the store around the same size for a great price. Would they work in the 90 gallon (just until their new tank is built) or should I hold off?

Oh, and I was going to use a 225 gallon, but instead have opted to get a custom built tank (9ft longX3ft wideX2.5tall) and use the 225 for a reef tank...

nevermind...just read another post with a similar question regarding 2 and 2.....so 1 and 1 should be alright as long as they are along the same sizes and not small/big enough to eat one another

You won't know if it will work until you atempt it. I made 3 different atempts before I found a pair of aros that would tolerate one another. If you do try to atempt this make sure you have away to seperate the two if needed, either another tank or a tank divider.

i wouldn't risk less than four aro's from my experiance its not worth the risk, it nearly always gos wrong....

I was talking to a gentleman at my LFS today about this. He said he tried it a few years ago with a 10 inch silver and an 11 inch black, apparently the black became very territorial and nearly killed the silver.

I guess it depends on the blacks temper. I wouldn't risk it
