Black Aro Fins

Hey all,

Im a little worried about my baby aro's fins. As you can see on the pics, the fins are torn and the orange edge is almost gone. The fish doesnt seem bothered and eats and behaves very well. Any suggestions on how this is possible and whether it will heal or not??

yeah it'll grow back, do frequent water changes... heal better an faster.

Thanks for the replies guys, i was thinking/hoping the same thing. Ive paid a lot of attention and never ever seen anything bit the aro. Thats why i thought it was odd. I do 3x WC a week so i guess that should be enough. Combined with varied diet i hope it will grow back soon.

it will..but you should try to understand the cause..i don't believe, from the pix, that is is bitten. I would be more ragged in one place eventually, and 8not all over, and the aro would not act as normal as you describe it..have you added something new to the tank, some chemistry change in the water?
something must have caused it..

well, to be honest, i have no idea... the only 2 things i can think of are either that it jumps at night. ive never seen him jump or hear it but that must be it...
second possibility: he likes to swim through my plastic floating plant. maybe his fins are torn by the not so soft plastic?
