If I am not mistaken Black Aro is illegal in FL....Also if I am not mistaken isn't it pretty much the exact same thing as a Silver?? I just want to make sure I am legal with my Armatus Aro tank....and I was offered a black.
Also if the coloration the only way to tell the 2 apart? I did a little research and can't find too much on it, besides the very slight color difference. I need to be able to tell the difference so I am not getting scerwed
Hmmm I am pretty sure there legal in Florida, pretty similar fish, juveniles are very colorful with a dark horizontal band across their midsection, adults are "blackish" in coloration with a tint of blue on the fins, if your not sure take a pic and we can ID it for you.
They are different. I like the black since they are less likely to develop drop eye. You will be able to tell the black from the Silver by looking at the fins. If the fins have pink or red throughout than it is a silver. The Black have black or blue on the fins may be edged w pink. I will send you of a black/ Blue Aro pic. The black are not as hardy , especially as juvenile.
Cool guys thanks for the info. Of course hey are illegal even though they can live anywhere just like a silver. It only makes sense to make my hobbie have troublesome. Well, I did have a silver and I really likd him so I will just stick with the slver. Thx again!!!! Thx for the pic Gavigan!!!
You know I think I might try and get a little more involved (even though it won't help with anything) in this whole legality cr@p.
Why are RTCs not illegal in FL? Why aren't Armatus???? (should be quiet about that or my luck they will be soon)..why would a black and not a silver be? I am just amazed at our system. I know this isn't the forum for this and I am sorry... I do feel better now

Same reason as we can import upper jaw polypterus but not lower jaw ones I guess; the rules are made by overpaid bureaucrats who don't know the first thing about fish...
