So I am currently setting up a 350g tank that was going to House a bunch of various rescue monster cichlids. As well as a Royal pleco, a fire eel and a BGK. I currently have a 125 housing some rescues that were going to fill out the tank (2x severums; 2x angelfish; 1x EBJD; 1x chocolate cichlid). But now I have someone trying to get me to take their Black Arowana that they bought for a 90g tank... it’s still only about 4” and it would probably be around 6-8 months before it completely outgrows the 90g.

I’ve never kept Arowana before and I’ve spent hours researching care just in case I decide to do this, but I want to know if it would get along with the BGK/Fire Eel/Royal because they aren’t going anywhere. The other rescues all have other tanks that they can/will be distributed out to. Would any of the cichlids also be able to stay in the tank, or is it Aro and none of the above, Aro and the bottom dwellers, etc?

You could out all the above fish in with the aro once the aro is past 10-12" imo.

Really? I mean I’m definitely good with that, I’ll be getting the Aro when it’s sitting around 16+” and that would mean I would have to do less swapping around the other tanks if they could all stay in the 350, I just worried the Aro would end up turning the other fish into snacks since I don’t honestly know much about their aggression! Just their massive adult sizes

You could definitely house the aro with the other fish in the 350 but he will be to big for the 90 when he reaches 16”, you should get him at around a foot

Hopefully I can have it all set up by then, if anything I can put him in a temporary 120 (it’s at least got a 2’x4’ foot print) would black Arowana be fine with a school of angelfish? Around 15 of them? Cause that’s another option available to me right now and then divide up the others amongst different tanks (I mostly think the visual effect of the angels would probably look better)

Depends on whether he gets over 2.5ft and big enough to eat em I guess. Silvers and blacks generally do well with tank mates as long as they arnt to aggressive to the aro.

Well I already have the angels left over from when I was breeding and they’ll be full grown when/if I take the Aro, so hopefully that’ll help curb any future aggression!

It could work, worth a try I guess. Would be different that's for sure... Are they altum

They’re platinum angels, the only angels (besides my 2 oddball rescues) that I kept after I stopped breeding recently. I was also breeding severums but those are all gone except one rescue (super red) and one (regular green) that’s just my best fish friend.
