I got home from work today and noticed a bite mark in my TSN. I just got the 20" black aro about two week ago, but my TSN loves to swim right underneath it almost like the aro is a floating log. Every now and again he'll nudge the aro from underneath or run into the aro when he turns.

I'm guessing the aro got tired of being the floating log today, because the TSN has a bite mark in his side now. I assume it was the aro as there's nothing else in there with a mouth that big.

I'm not too worried about the TSN though as he's just a few inches smaller than the aro, but dang, never heard of that happening before, especially with a black aro.

my silver gets "bitey" sometimes...everything that is in the tank gets bit...eg. gar tsns, jd, pacu, me when i go to clean...must be pms or something like that...

Haha. Yeah, it wasn't a bad bite or anything, just enough to leave a mark. Kind of a "get out of my space" type check bite.

The black aro is still quite shy. The guy I got him from had him in the basement, which was very low traffic. Whereas, I'm always in front of the tank. He's starting to associate me with food though, but if I make any sudden movements he still jets for the other side of the tank.

mm.. when aros reach a certain maturity they tend to back down a lot less.. when my aros was 20 and less they almost never stood up to anything but when they got past the 20" line they started standing up for themselves..

the TSN cat can be quite a predator, u are saying that the aro is 20" and just a little bigger than the cat, may be the aro gotta watch out too, cause i have seen my cats do some serious damage when being put down

The TSN is getting close, but I still think he's too small to fit the aro in his mouth. He'd have to dislocate his jaw. Now if it was an rtc, I would be far more worried.

Let me kno how it goes after ur tsn gets 1.5 times bigger than ur aro. Cus my tsn ate my jar. Wat a sad day. I was so angry i gutted the tsn to retrieve his body for proper burial. I'd love to keepem together but tsn's are hogs. Wide northern pike like mouths. They'll eat everything.

Ha, yeah the TSN will be going in a pond when he gets bigger. Gonna have a pond with an rtc, tsn, and niger cat. I just need to start digging, but I should be done by spring.
