Ok, so I have a 240gal (this replaced my 135gal African Cichlid tank) currently with a 22 inch Black Aro that I got about 2-3 months ago. He is currently eating market shrimp and occasionally pellets, I feed him anywhere from 1-3 times a week, 1 piece of shrimp. He was with a small Green Tex for about 3-4 weeks with no problems and a 5-6 inch Gulper cat for about 2-3 weeks with no problems as well. Currently he is alone and I was thinking of adding my birchirs and gars from other tanks. I have 4 Laps about 8-10 inches each, 2 Ornates about 10-11 inches each, and 2 Endli about 7-8 inches each, I also have a 12-13 inch Florida/Spotted Gar and a smaller 8-9 inch one, (possibly a 7-8 inch orange Pike) that I was thinking of moving to the 240gal. All fish eat pellets or at least market shrimp or tilapia filets so feeding isn’t a problem. Tank has a fx5, two Seio 1500gph pumps on each side and is bare, and I do 50-70% water changes once a week. I plan on adding either another fx5 or xp3 sometime in the future. I was thinking of feeding the Blk Aro a nice big piece of shrimp and then doing a water change before adding the fish all at once. If I do this it won’t be until end of June when I get back from a trip out of the country. What are other’s thoughts with adding these fish to the tank and all at once? Am I risking too much with this plan?

My other tank has a 21 inch Blk Aro, Midas/RD, Pikes, SD, Sevs, P-Bass, Pictus Cats, FH, and a couple other fish I can't think of.

This is my suggestion. Keep it as it is until you're back from your trip. Then continue to feed it properly for another week then introduce new tankmates and remove the old tankmates in the process.

Then it's all about observing them from then.:)

Sorry I guess I wasn't clear, my plan was to wait until after I get back from the trip to do this:). And currently it's just the Black Aro in there by himself. I'll probably do this on a Friday so I can watch over how everything works out over the weekend. Thanks for reassuring me what I was thinking of doing seemed logical and not a huge risk. :headbang2

It's a good thing you have spare tanks around the house. Even if the mix fail you can react immediately. But keeping the fish well fed throughout will be a good idea. Try introducing the new fish during water change.

Thanks. That is my plan. When I do it I'll take before and after pix and hopefully pix of the tank with the fish weeks and months later.

I dun think there should be any problem with the mixing. All the best though.:)
