black arowana fins?

i need some help
i have a black that has ugly fins and it seems like its not growing back.
hes about 7" and his tank mates are bunch of royals, earth eaters, a flagtail, 2 acharas(just added his fins were messed up before alrdy), and a 4" lei.
when the lei gets his fins nipped/shredded they grow back in a couple days but my black's fins have been looks like doodoo for almost 6 weeks
any advices guys? tank is a 125 gallon

Looks to me like your black aro has fin rot.

What happened????Change the water, keep it clean and add salt. Melafix should help.

raise the temp to 88f and add melafix and pimafix for a week.

125 is alot of melafix dats why

I see, my little black baby also has some "broke" fin...
I think it also might be the fin rot too, so do the melafix really help?

And what the reason the fin will rot? Ph problem or...?

its most likely fin rot, black aros are affected by water quality much worse than other types of aros. i had this problem with my black until i learned to keep on top of the water quality with frequent water changes and using peat to drop the ph level of the aquarium.

is it melafix or pimafix that u guys are suppose to use? Also when i was looking over the gill curl surgeries on youtube I saw that one of the guys clippped the tails down to size also. But I wouldn't attempt anything without proper research.
