Here.
Hello Fellow MFKers,

This is a double post, but I want to get peoples opinion from their respective section of the forum.

I took out my 4-5" blk aro from the 240G show tank and put him in a 10G for treatment of fin rot. I am using Binox and it seems to be working great.

However, is there any precautions I should take for my 240G show tank? Current occupants of the main tank are only Motoro stingrays. I have a 18W UV Sterilizer currently hooked up to a Fluval 405.

I don't want any lingering pathogens in my water that will "re-initiate" the fungal/bacterial infections.

Thanks everyone!

Best,
Jeff

well i posted in the other one. but i'll post again.

- Do one big water change, then treat with Malefix and Pimafix for 7 full days like it says on the label. Then do another water change after treatment.
- While Malefix is treating, also dose the tank with Aquarium Salt at 1 Tbsp/5 gallons.
(unless sensitive scalesss fish are present)
- Also raise the temp to around 83 - 85 degrees
- when Malefix treatment is done,
do Water changes.... at least every 4 days - take out at least 25%
- replace salt after each water change. Only as much as you remove. Until healed

edit: Pimafix works on external and internal Bacterial Infections
Malefix works on Fungal infections and open wounds

- you can treat with both at the same time to cover the widest range of possible causes.

Oh and turn of the UV Sterilizer if you go the route of Malefix and Pimafix

I know you asked for precautions. But thats just the treatment i recommend that is all natural and involves no medications. So you can use it as a precaution as well as a treatment if you are worried about widespread infection.
