Black Arowana in a 180?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say yes it is a 6 ft tank right? but there are going to be people that disagree with me they rarely hit the 2 ft. mark so I would say yes...

if the tank is 6x2x2ft it should be ok for some time

My Aro....before he passed to the great blue beyond...was almost a good 3 feet. I had him in a 125. The size of the tank is 6'X18"x22" (lxwxh) He was fine in that size, but a 180 would be an awesome size for him. We did have tankmates in there with him which we moved into a tank of their own, he was getting aggresive twards them. If you do put a tig in with him, make sure the tig is smaller, but not too small.
The Arp seemed to know what his food was and what a tank mate was. As mine got bigger though, he demanded more live foods. We only fed him feeders once a month, and the rest of the time we fed him frozen krill, and carnivore pellets (by HIKARI), we also fed him some thawed out smelt, and tiger prawns as treats.

Black Arowanas are just the best out of the two (silver & black) They do not get as huge as the Silver, and they have the most amazing colors, and personalities.

I hope all of this info has helped you in your quest for the Black Arowana!

wow, your aro was twice as long as the tank was wide? Didn't he have a hard time turning around?

S.A aros have much more flexible bodies than most fish hence its quite ok... as long as they have adequate space to stretch out most of the time they shld be ok.

Nope! Aro's are very flexable, he could "curl" up in a circle...He did that when he was in hunting mode...He would circle around the goldfish over and over again...I think he did this to confuse his prey. He used to do this in an agrissive manner tward the oscar....But he would also "arch" his back, and open his mouth a little. He did this to scare the oscar....Never really worked though, but it was really fun to watch!

arow will be fine in a 180, just do your water changes(20% a week), Keep the temp up @86 degrees, and have a good filter(Ex two magnum 350s)
