i have a jebo 5 foot light over my tank. i had only 1 bulb in it and i thought it looked good. i just put the 2nd bulb back in and it looks a little too bright. the black arowana isnt as high in the tank is he usually is.

what is the best lighting schemes for the tank.

i have shoplights on the 180... a 4' and a 2' strip light on my 55 grow out of aros...both tanks are exposed to sunlight every day as well...your aro will get use to the new light

my silvers have gotten redder when i have direct sunlight on them...if that is an option i would do that...

i don't spend to much on lights as you could tell by my $20 expense on a shop light...i haven't seen a tanning light used on a silver, but there was a thread a while back that mentioned it...as for natural light being better then artifical...well it all depends on who you talk to...we are tring to replicate their natual habitat in our homes so in that reaspect yes...you will have a hell of an algae attack though so get a good "cleaner" if you don't have one, be it fish or scrubber...i tried a black light, didn't really see much though my light wasn't the best..(covered in glow candel wax from my stoner days)..i took it off out of fear that the wax could fall in an my fish could eat it...if you have a black light try it and see what you think...personaly i like the sunlight as i use hydroponics so it helps on more levels then just color...

has anyone tried underwater lighting? Could this work or would it be to much light?

ehh doesnt seem like a good idea

y not? Is it because it harm the fish? I would think if you have a big and deep tank that some ( plants, bottom fish) will not have enough lighting. Would the in-tank address these issue and also would be like a light show (LED).
