question: how is the maintenance compared to a non-planted tank (gravel/sand substrate)?

Maintenence on this tank is increased more by the 3 pieces of driftwood then anything. Lots of debree collects under/around them, so every two weeks I have to pull them to clean. I do not gravel vac, but do siphon out alot of debree(mainly dead plant matter). Filters are maintained monthly. The plants keep the nitrates lower so I do less water changes, 25% weekly is keeping me around the 20ppm mark.

EXcellent looking tank!!

Lighting is provided by 4 65 watt 6700k lamps. on at 10am off at 9pm.
