High guys,

I have a couple black/blue arow questions for you. Firstly I read they don't grow as fast or as big as silvers, just want to know if this is true. Also I understand the breed similar to silver arrows, as such I'm curious as to why they are not spawned in captivity seeing as they are a highly valued fish. I don't currently own any arows but I'm considering and trying to outline the species requirements and also wondering if breeding would be a possibility should I aspire to get a couple different juvies and breed them when they sexually mature. Thanks.

Blacks can get just as long as silvers but will only carry about 2/3rds the bulk of a silver. As for growth rate, I think it depends on if you get a larger wild caught or start with a baby. I had a black grow from baby to 27" in about 20 months. Not much is known regarding breeding silver arowana, so black follows along the same lines. I believe Oddball had a pair of silvers breed, you may want to PM him.

Awesome, thanks. That helps me understand part of the visual difference between them later in life as well. I see pictures of "adult" black arrows and they don't look adult because I don't see the bulk in the fish I expect to see in a arrow over 24 inches. PM sent, thank

just a thought: 10 years ago, I don't remember ever hearing about black aros in the hobby. they were probably extremely rare at best (and still kind of rare). this could also be a contributing factor as to why they havn't been farm bred yet.

the rarity and percieved value is why I was considering trying to spawn the fish down the road.
