Hi I am currently setting up a 72x18x24 :nilly: and will be setting up a 314g next year so I was wondering if I could have a black aro in it for a year or two until I get the 314g up and running.
also will he be able to hold his ground with an oscar and other chiclids?
thanks

The black aro will be fine in your tank your are setting up, just make sure it is cycled first. As for putting the aro with cichlids, it is always best to make sure the aro is about twice the length of the cichlids. Even then you will need to keep a close eye, small arowana are fragile and can easily be overcome by cichlids half their size. I would keep seperate until the 10" range.

ok thanks here is the stocking list I am planning will go in the 314g but the 135g will be a grow out tank
1 black aro
2 spotted gars
2 pbass
1 black ghost knife
1 sevrum
1 oscar
lots and lots of polys!!!!
and some dithers

The Black Arowana will be fine for a year in that tank. You stock seems good. Just be aware that the Black Ghost knife and some Ploys grows really slow. They may not be able to catch up to the Aro, Pbass, and Oscar. They may become meals for those fish as they get larger.

^ yea I was planning on getting thee polys first and grow them up a bit in my 30g

The aro should be fine just be careful with your water parameters, looks like you have a bunch of messy fish at feeding time, ammonia levels could rise to dangerous levels if not properly filtered or water changed.

sweet thanks but how big do pbass get I was told 20" by my lfs
