Picked up a black about 3weeks ago. He was missing a few scales and had no barbels (in tank with aggressive chiclids). The barbels have grown back slightly and the scales seem to be the same as when I got him. Read the threads about poking the barbel area to stimulate growth but was wondering if anyone has had them grow back on there own and how long it took?

My jar lost most of his barbels once from lip locking with my O' they grew back fast! like 2 weeks maybe... 84 degree temps water changes good balanced diet, and a teaspoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons of water = good as new in no time!
