Hey guys I just got black barred silver dollar but hes not showing any colors. Has eaten massivore and all that. Any tips on how to get im to show color? I know they're schooling fishes and i'm gonna get some normal silver dollars as black bars are too expensive and i'm on a budget.

What do you mean by not showing any color? The color of the bar? or the hook? Is it a wide bar or a thin bar Myleus schomburgkii?
Oh I never knew there was a red hook or blue hook. Not too sure which one I have as it was just labeled as a black bar. The black bar is pretty dull and sometimes it completely disappears
I'm guessing your fish are the blue hook variety and are under 5" in length. When they are smaller the bar can fade in and out depending on their mood. As they become more confident they will usually show the darker bar more often. If you have less than I say 3, it will take time for them to settle in and show their best color. How big is your black bar?
I would say 3". Hopefully its a red hook as thats what I was going for. My LFS had a display piece and he sold out of them all when I finally got lids to buy them so I went to another LFS down the street and bought them expecting them to be the same
Okay I will tomorrow. Don't wanna do it right now as when I was looking at the tank he decided he wanted to try flying and smashed himself into the lid. Was a pretty hard hit too, worried he'll break some bones or something
What size tank is he in? with what? Also get a few regular silver dollars for him to school with and he will settle in better.
