I know this topic has been dealt with many times before, but has anyone used black beauty coal slag with success or failure with New World Cichlids. Right now I am in the process of upgrading my 29 gallon tank with 2 juvie Texas, 1 juvie green sev, and one marble sailfin pleco to a 55 gallon tank. I currently am using quikrete medium grain sand in the 29 and I just like the darker color sand because the lighter sand washes out their colors. There aren't any 3m colorquartz dealers in the area that I have been able to get that from, but I was looking for cheaper black sand than tahitian moon sand. Any advice or help would be great.
