Hey guys so was at the lfs and saw some beautiful black belts. After doing some research I found alot of vague info on the species in regards to tank size, max size. I was thinking of getting one for a single wet pet in a 90. Was wondering what people's opinions are on the matter.

I think it's a great idea, as long as your filtration is efficient and your maintenance is sufficient. Post some photos of whatever you decide to put in there! Good luck

A single one would work in a 90. A female would fit better than a male as they can hit 12-14 inches usually and get tall.

Can you use dither with these guys? Or say a few medium size cichlids like a male con, sals, or FM's. Or in a 90 would agression be to high from the BB

That's what I am trying to figure out I personally have not seen a mature BB and some things I read say 12 inch fish others a 16 to 17 inch monster. Just trying to get as much info as possible.

BBs, can be one of the most aggressive Vieja, especially in a small tank (for large active fish like them) such as a 90. Unless it is a 6 ft 90.
They usually don't tolerate other cichlids in small tanks, but "non"-cichlids are sometimes given a pass.
Here in Central America maculacauda can sometimes be found grazing marine algae lust off shore in the ocean and though they are omnivorous, they have a definite tendency to eat fruit and veggies, and are found under overhanging fig trees waiting for ripe fruit to fall.
Don't let the vegetarian side fool you though, they can be tough very aggressive fish.
